Formula for Selecting A Presidential Candidate:
1. RACE; 2. RELIGION; 3. POLITICAL PARTY, and where applicable: 4. QUALIFICATIONS © 2012 by Wayne D. Lewis, Sr.
There are fewer than two months to the 2012 Presidential Election. I hope many of you have registered to vote and will actually vote. Many of us will not re-elect President Obama. And that's okay. It is a constitutional right to choose our leaders. Many of us will not support him because:
1. unemployment is at or above 8%;
America deserves better than that. Be sure to vote November 6, 2012
2. He accomplished far less than he said he would do, per media reports
3. He is not a Christian (reportedly), more over, some still believes that he is Muslum
4. He pushed/ramed the Healthcare program down the Congress/Senate's throat, forcing them to accept it
5. He supports gay rights/gay marriage
6. He is pro-choice
7. He supports illegal immigration
8. His stimulus programs made no difference
9. He is black
These are the reasons why many will not vote for President Obama, and that's okay. But there are many who will vote for President Obama, including me. Why?
First and foremost for the very reason why no one will discuss: the elephant in the room. He is Black, Christian, Democrat and Qualified.
Never in my 57 years have I seen so much hatred towards any politician, including Nixon, Carter, and Goldwater. They have been forgiven for many of their blunders, especially President Nixon, the first president to resign in disgrace to avoid impeachment. But here we have a President who has been subjected to more hatred nationally, than internationally.
The reason why he was voted for was not because he was brilliant, although he is. He was voted for because of the frustration of white voters who had been frustrated with the choices of white men who were ready to lead this country. There were other white men whom they could have chosen in 2008. Including Senator McCain, a former POW from the Viet Nam war, and his running mate, Sarah Palin, former Governor of the State of Alaska for VP. We knew that under President George W. Bush, millions of people lost jobs in a matter of months, the stock market dropped like a rock. For reasons no one will discuss, and correct me if I am wrong, white people, put a black man in office because they believed that he couldn’t possibly do any worse than the warmongers who were sending our sons and daughters overseas to fight for oil (Iraq) rather than develop an independent energy source. And in the case of 9/11, we moved too slow to address the true home of terrorism in Afghanistan. How worse could the United States get under Republican leadership, when we were dedicated to closing schools, closing hospitals, closing training facilities, partial protection of our borders on the south while the north borders allowed for a revolving door access to our country? How much worse could this black man, without a US birth certificate be?
I don’t know what it took for white voters to vote for a black man in these United States. But apparently they held their noses; they held their breaths; they held their dignity, and pulled levers; they punched holes, or they marked off ballots, because they couldn’t possibly go back to the same way of American life that had cost the lives of their sons and daughters, their jobs; their education, or their livelihoods. Whatever reason(s) White America did it before, as voters, those same reasons still exist. Because this black man couldn’t possibly undo in 3 to 4 years what has been, at the very least, in 8 years. If you believe that President Obama had an ample opportunity, within 4 years to undo what was done in 8 years, then vote for his opponent, former Governor Mitt Romney.
Vote for Governor Romney, who promises to abolish Healthcare for everyone; vote for his promise to privatize social security; who believes in tax cuts for the rich, and to cut more spending, especially wherever it affects the middle class, the poor, and those who are not well-connected; who believes in no abortion irrespective of the woman’s right to choose, her health, rape or incest. But please, don’t vote for him because he is white. Like President Obama, Governor Romney is more qualified than that.
The bottom line is we need to stop voting by the formula of RACE; POLITICAL PARTY; RELIGION and oh yes, QUALIFICATIONS, where applicable. America deserves better than that. Be sure to vote November 6, 2012
